Curbside Services Beginning 11/4/2020

Due to an increase of COVID-19 cases in our community, we have made the decision to return to curbside services.  Our current plan is to proceed with this through the end of November, when we will re-evaluate and determine if we need to continue through the end of the year.  We will only be allowing animals into the building at this time with very few exceptions.  While we understand this may not be ideal for everyone, we feel this is necessary to provide a safe environment for our team members and clients.

Listed is a reminder of how we manage our curbside services:
  –  We will only be allowing animals in the practice, with very few exceptions.
  –  When you arrive at the practice, please call 307-772-1777 and we will inform the veterinarian who will then come out to speak with you and bring your pet inside.  After an evaluation, they will call you to discuss their findings and develop a plan for treatment and arrange for payment.
  –  House calls:  We will not be available during this time, with the only exceptions of end of life care and owners who are unable to leave their house due to disabilities.
  –  Refills on medications and food:  You can call the office or email us at clinic@cottonwoodvc.com and we ask that you request the refills 1-2 days ahead of time.  We will call you  when they are ready, collect payment over the phone, and then place them in the front lobby vestibule for you to pick up.
  –  Telemedicine:  Under certain circumstances we may be able to offer this service.  We must have seen your pet in the last year for this to be considered  as an option.  We sincerely appreciate everyone’s kindness and understanding during these unprecedented times.  Our goal, as always, is to provide care for your pets while we keep those around us safe and healthy.

COVID-19 11/2/2020 UPDATE

In response to the Laramie County Health Departments mask mandate, we will now be requiring anyone entering our building to wear a face mask.

If wearing a mask is not an option for you, please ask to schedule a curbside appointment. We will come out to your car and see your pets there instead of inside the buidling.

We appreciate our understanding during these unsettled times, and look forward to providing care for your pets in the safest manner for our team members and you.

May 18th Updates

We are updating our clinic policies in response to changes and recommendations from our governor and the CDC.  Our ultimate goal is open up the clinic for some appointments, but to only have one client in the lobby at any given time.  Additionally, we will reduce the number of clients entering the hospital to 50% of the normal capacity.

New Procedures for Appointments:
* Please call to check in for all appointments when you arrive at 772-1777.
* Surgery drop-offs and pick ups will still be curbside
* Veterinary nurse appointments will still be curbside (blood work, toe nail trims, etc.)
* Annual exams and medical appointments will now be available in the clinic.  Please call to check in when you arrive to ensure that the lobby is empty.  We will escort you to an exam room immediately.
*If you would prefer curbside, this will continue to be available.

*Please try to limit the number of people coming in for appointments to only those that are absolutely necessary.
* We encourage you to wear masks inside the clinic.
* Medication refills will continue to be available in the vestibule with no contact.
* House call appointments will be available after June 15th.  We will conduct these exams outside. This will be good for dogs but may not be ideal for cats.

Please know that we are doing our best to keep you and our staff safe and healthy.

Heartworm Prevention:

On another note, we wanted to let you know that we have changed our recommendation on heartworm prevention.  We feel that the risk of heartworm disease is increasing and are now recommending heartworm prevention for all dogs.  If your dogs have not been on prevention in the past, we will need to do a blood test first to confirm that they have not been exposed to the disease.  The test takes 15 minutes which we are able to run in the clinic.

We will offer two different types of prevention including Heartgard, which is a beef flavored chew taken once each month, or Proheart which is an injection dogs receive once each year.  Both of these medications are equally effective and we are happy to discuss each one and their side effects.

Thank you so very much for your continued understanding and patience.  We are so happy to be a part of your lives and ensuring the best health for your pets.

Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic COVID19 Policies

To our clients:

I hope you are all staying healthy and adjusting to all the changes with COVID-19.  I have outlined below our veterinary clinic policies in response to the virus starting on Monday March 23, 2020 and continuing through the foreseeable future.

  1. We will remain open but only with curbside service.  We will be only allowing animals into the clinic with very few exceptions.  When you arrive for your appointment, please call the clinic phone at 772-1777 to let us know that you have arrived.  We will get a brief history and an employee will come to your car to bring the patient into the hospital.  We will perform an exam and necessary diagnostics and treatments.  We will call you with our recommendations and treatments and arrange payment.   When we are finished, we will return the pet to your car.
  2. House-call appointments:  We will stop most house-call appointments during the COVID-19 pandemic.  We will resume these services when we are able.    The only exceptions will be end of life care and if you or your pet are not able to leave the house because of a disability.
  3. Refill medications/prescription food:  Please make sure that you have adequate medications at home.  I expect to have shortages but have no way to predict what those medications will be.   I would recommend that you have between 1 and 2 months of medication at home.  The best way to request medication refills is via email at clinic@cottonwoodvc.com.  We will call when medications are ready to be picked up and arrange payment.  We will leave medications in the vestibule of the clinic.
  4. Vaccine/heartworm/routine procedures.  We will continue to offer routine appointments as long as we are able and have the supplies to do so.
  5. Elective surgeries:  We will continue to offer routine surgeries and dental procedures as long as we are able and have the supplies to do so.
  6. Telemedicine:  Under certain circumstances we may be able to offer telemedicine services.  It is a requirement that we have seen your pet in the last year for this to be considered as an option.
  7. We know that some phone calls are not making it through to us.  Our phones are working but the circuits are overwhelmed with everyone working from home.  Please keep calling or better yet, send us an email with your request at clinic@cottonwoodvc.com.

We are trying our best to provide care for your pets while keeping all of our clients, staff and families healthy.   Thank you for your understanding.

Construction has begun!

Exam room
We are so excited that construction has begun on our expansion project. With our expanded space we will have 4 exam rooms, one in which is a cat only room. We will also have an enlarged reception area and separate wards for dogs and cats. We are hoping to be finished with our construction project in January of 2020.
